Ukraine Relief Runners Raise More Than £10,000 in Edinburgh

May 23, 2026

A team of 14 runners represented Ukraine Relief at the Edinburgh Marathon Festival, raising more than £10,000 for the charity’s “Children Are the Future” project.

Five runners completed the full marathon, including members of Emily Maw’s family. Nine others took part in the half marathon: Ukraine Relief founder and CEO Karol Swiacki, trustee Alastair Young, Rick Mabe, Niall, Mike, Robert, Nick, Andy and Dean.

The money raised will support Ukraine Relief’s work with children affected by the war. Through the “Children Are the Future” project, the charity provides sports clothing and equipment, restores schools and sports halls, and develops safe spaces where children can learn, play and recover.

The Edinburgh event demonstrated the growing strength of the Ukraine Relief Running Club and the important role that community fundraising plays in supporting the charity’s work.

Ukraine Relief extends its thanks to every runner, donor and supporter who contributed to the event. The charity also thanks FootballKitsDirect.com for supplying the team’s running shirts.

Following the success of the Edinburgh Marathon Festival, the Ukraine Relief Running Club plans to participate in further marathon and half-marathon events. Details will be announced in due course.
